What is an APN, and when should you change it?

An Access Point Name tells the phone how to reach a mobile carrier data service. Some eSIM profiles configure it automatically. Others require a value supplied with the plan.

Change only the intended line

On a dual-SIM phone, make sure you are editing the travel eSIM rather than the primary SIM. Copy the APN exactly, including punctuation and capitalization when present. Leave username, password and other fields empty unless the plan instructions explicitly provide them.

After saving

Select the new APN if the phone presents a list, toggle airplane mode, and wait for the device to register. If it still fails, restore the documented plan value rather than guessing. Keep the eSIM installed and contact support with the phone model, destination and visible network.
